SQUASHBUG Plinachtus imitator

This rather handsome squashbug or leatherbug Plinchatus imitator was photographed in Toscana (Tuscany), Italy. The photographer knows vey little about it other than the fact that it appears to have thorny projections on its pronotum and a predilection for Scabious Knautia sp. flowers. This bug is reported to be monophagous, feeding exclusively on Lentisk Pistacia lentiscus.
