·         The Rhomboid Leatherbug Syromastus rhombeus is rather distinctively shaped – always a useful attribute for those trying to accurately identify insects! The angularity of its abdomen is referenced in both the vernacular and specific names. This is not a particularly common bug in the UK although the last two photographs were taken on rough ground at a site in Outer London. The remaining photographs were taken in Toscana (Tuscany), Italy.
