BLUE SHIELDBUG Zicrona caerulea

·         The metallic Blue Shieldbug Zicrona caerulea is quite an elusive insect and it is also not easy to photograph well using flash as the colours rarely appear to be as bright as they are in life. The blue reflective metallic surface is of a similar shade to that of certain flea beetles, the larvae of which are preyed upon by this small shieldbug. The immature stages (not illustrated) are much more colourful than their parents.
