- These
photographs of Beautiful Demoiselles
Calopteryx
virgo, some of which are shown displaying, show
just how much the appearance of the wings alters when seen in different
lighting conditions. Note the slightly deeper wings and the extent of the
wing-clouding when compared with those of the similar Banded Demoiselle C.
splendens, illustrations of which may be found elsewhere on this
web site. The final series of photographs was taken in the Dordogne,
France.
