WASP-HOVERFLY Chrysotoxum elegans
- This photograph shows Chrysotoxum
elegans, one of the most strikingly marked and convincing of the
social wasp-mimicking British hoverflies. There are several other similar Chrysotoxum species so close examination is
required in order to identify the members of this genus to species level.
This fly has recently been allocated the vernacular name of Elegant Wasp Hoverfly.
