The
eponymous grey patches are clearly visible in these photographs of a fresh female Grey-patched Mining Bee Andrena nitida but once these insects have become worn
these patches may no longer be visible. With
over 70 species in the UK many members of the Andrena genus can be
difficult to separate although there are some distinctive species! They are sexually dimorphic too!
