SPIDER-HUNTING WASP Priocnemis perturbator

·         The spider-hunting wasp Priocnemis perturbator has an association with Wood Spurge Euphorbia amygdaloides and the adults may be observed feeding on these plants in woodland clearings and margins The larvae are each provisioned with a wolf or ground spider, these being paralysed and then dragged back to the nest. The nesting biology of this common insect is still poorly understood, meaning that there is still room for original behavioural observations to be made.
