CHALK CARPET MOTH Scotopteryx bipunctaria cretata

 

·         The Chalk Carpet Moth Scotopteryx bipunctaria cretata, family Geometridae (Larentiinae) is associated with chalk and limestone habitats. The larvae of this rather scarce (and sometimes camera-shy) moth feed on leguminous plants. This moth is easily disturbed during the day, often disappearing underneath vegetation if disturbed.
