FULVOUS PEARL MOTH Udea fulvalis

·         The Fulvous Pearl Moth Udea fulvalis is an uncommon migrant to the UK from continental Europe. The individual shown in these photographs was attracted to light in South London (not an area normally associated with this Crambid micro-moth), and its perfect condition indicates that it may have bred locally, using White Dead-nettle Lamium album as a larval food-plant, rather than having migrated. With thanks to Richard Lewington and Sean Foote for confirming the identification.
