LIME-SPECK PUG MOTH Eupithecia centaureata

·         The Lime-speck Pug Moth Eupithecia centaureata (Geometridae, Larentiinae) belongs to a large genus of small macro-moths containing about 50 British species. Many of these are tricky to identify, but the Lime-speck Pug is unlikely to pose any such difficulties as its markings and shape are so distinctive. The moth is widespread and common, and the larvae can feed on a wide variety of plants. The above photograph has been scanned from an old transparency.
