NUT-TREE TUSSOCK MOTH Colocasia coryli

·         The illustrations show a comparatively strikingly marked example of a Nut-tree Tussock Moth Colocasia coryli (Noctuidae), a common species with variable markings and several named forms. The specific name references Hazel Corylis spp., one of the most used of the larval foodplants of a furry caterpillar with broad tastes. The photographs were taken in the Vendée, France.
