·         The Rosy Footman Moth Miltochrista miniata belongs to the family Arctiidae (Lithosiinae). This lovely little moth predominantly inhabits broadleaved woodlands where the larvae feed on lichens living epiphytically on the bark of trees. The example above appeared to have emerged recently, albeit with some scale damage to one of its forewings, and it had been attracted to artificial light at a location in Switzerland – quite possibly the reason why its scales had been lost!
