The
Speckled Rose Chafer Protaetia morio (Scarabeidae)
may lack the bright metallic colours of some of its closest relatives, but
the similarity of shape will be immediately obvious. In common with other
chafers, this species feeds on the pollen of various flowers. The intensity and distribution of the white markings are
variable. The example shown above was photographed in Toscana, Italy. This beetle
is absent from the UK.
